Information for Faculty and Staff

Faculty or staff members who have a disability and who wish to seek a reasonable accommodation should promptly contact the University’s Human Resources Department at or call 804-289-8747. 

Reasonable accommodations are alterations/changes in the workplace that enable persons with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs and to enjoy equal benefits and privileges of employment.

Requests for accommodation, along with any necessary supporting documentation, will be reviewed by an HR Business Partner. The Business Partner will discuss the request with the individual faculty or staff member and will meet with appropriate individuals, such as the individual's dean, department chair, supervisor, or department head, in order to assess the options for reasonable accommodations.  

Human Resources shall notify the faculty or staff member in writing of the approved accommodations within 15 days of receipt of a request, unless additional documentation is required or extenuating circumstances necessitate a longer review period.
